Masculine Cards Feed

Stampin' Up! Hello, Sailor!

Hey there! So far I haven't gotten Mark's bug, so keep your fingers crossed for me that I don't, ok? Mark took me to a really good Phillips, Craig & Dean concert at the Marion Civic Center on Friday night. I was really grateful to not be sick and have to miss it!

Thursday night I stamped with a fun group of women at Theresa McGhee's house in Weast Frankfort, IL. She had hot chocolate, hot apple cider, hot coffee, and a array of yummies for us to snack on while we stamped. Theresa requested masculine cards, so I created this one for her group using the new Occasions Catalog set, Hello, Sailor!

Stampin_up_hello_sailor_1

We used the Circle Card Thinlet Die, You're Amazing stamp set for the greeting on this side of the "flip", High Tide Designer Paper (also from the Occasions Catalog), Smoky Slate cardstock and ink, Midnight Muse cardstock and ink, and Silver Glimmer Paper-punched stars! The Smoky Slate stamped anchors are also from Hello, Sailor.

Stampin_up_hello_sailor_2

Here's the "flip" side, stamped with "you're my best mate" from Hello, Sailor.

In case you didn't know, here's how to cut out the curve on the striped section of designer paper:

Framelit curve cutting

The dimensions for the designer paper is 1 3/4" x 5 1/4". Place the paper inside the frame section of the thinlet card die as shown. You will need to "eyeball" the eveness of all sides till it suits you. Then crank through the Big Shot. Your piece will then be ready to apply to your card section!

That's all for now. Today I have a Stamp Camp for Cindy Lisk at her house in Nashville, IL. Yay!

Stampin'Up! Sunday Swap Day Masculine Sympathy and a Thank You!

It's Sunday, which means it's Sunday Swap Day, the day I share some of the swaps I receive each month from the swap groups I belong to!

I really like these cards!

Sherri Beyrer used wood-planking from Truly Grateful, the moose and "thinking of you" from Walk in the Wild, 1 1/4" Burlap Ribbon, the Tasteful Trim Bigz XL Die, and the Circle Card Thinlet Die for her creation. The colors she used are Midnight Muse, Crushed Curry, Early Espresso, and Very Vanilla.

Sherri beyrer 1

On the "flip" side of this card she used a phrase from Thoughts & Prayers, and the acorn stamp from Truly Grateful

Sherri beyrer 2

Raedean Shibata used Island Indigo and Very Vanilla to create her elegant and serene thanks card. Starting with the Label Card Thinlet Die, she added flourishes from Creative Elements, strips of Island Indigo embossed with the Square Lattice folder, a decorative edge from a Finishing Touches Edgelit, Coastal Cabana 3/8" Ruffle Stretch Trim, and a flower and greeting from Blooming with Kindness.

Raedean shibata 1

Inside the "flip", she stamped another phrase from Blooming with Kindness.

That's all for now! Today is my quarterly meeting with my Yes, Mam! Stampers, and I can hardly wait! We are trying a new meeting location and format. I am excited to see how it goes!

Until tomorrow, have a Stampingrox! day!

Stampin' Up! Wetlands with a Painter's Tape Twist!

Hey there! I had a really fun day yesterday! I had a chance to drive almost 2 hours over to the eastern edge of Illinois and go stamp with a group of women right at the Ohio River! I mean, the Ohio River was right outside her front porch! It was a beautiful drive on a clear autumn day through the Shawnee National Forest, and then when I arrived, it was so lovely to stamp with these women admidst the serene quiet and clean river air! We stamped 4 cards, so she had a table set up in her kitchen and one on her front porch! It was warm, but not overly, so we had an extremely good day!

After I headed home I drove straight to my daughter's to take three of my grandchildren, Maddie Kate, Ava, and Cohen, to their gymnastics practice. I don't get to do that very often, but it worked out perfectly this time. I love watching them cartwheel, roll, and flip!

Needless to say, by the time I arrived home last night I had zero time to create, so that had to wait until today after I caught up on a few of my chores that were neglected yesterday. Logan is coming home from school for the weekend too, so I have a few things to get done for his arrival. (one major thing is to be all caught up on my laundry before he brings me his! lol!)

Fall just feels like the right time to do heat embossing, doesn't it? I love the look, and I've been using my heat tool alot lately. Today's creation is no exception. I used Early Espresso Stampin' Emboss Powder to emboss the goose from Wetlands:

Wetlands 1
I combined the embossing with a bit of masking technique, then used the Witches' Brew Designer Washi Tape for my twist on the painter's tape technique!

First, I embossed the goose with Early Espresso e.p. on Very Vanilla cardstock. I made sure I rubbed my Embossing Buddy over the cardstock first, before I stamped him with Versamark and sprinkled on the powder so I would get a clean image when I heated without any powder "scatter".

Wetlands 5

Next, I stamped the same goose image on a piece of scrap paper and cut it out with my Paper Snips. I swiped a few lines of glue with my 2-way Glue Pen on the backside and let the glue air-dry for a few minutes so it would dry to Post-It Note consistency. I then covered my embossed goose with the goose "mask" before starting the painter's tape technique.

Wetlands 6

For my Painter's Tape Technique twist, I used some extra Witches' Brew Designer Washi Tape instead of painter's tape. I wanted my lines of ink to be smaller, more in scale with the size of the goose. I tore off random-sized pieces from all three rolls of washi tape. I then laid each one on an open inkpad, pressing down lightly with my fingers on the tape. I then transferred the inked tape to the masked-goose image, lightly rubbing with my fingers again to transfer some, but not all, of the ink over the image. When I removed the tape it left this cool splotchy-looking line of ink! I used Cajun Craze, Crumb Cake, Crushed Curry, Garden Green, and Pool Party inks.

Wetlands 7

I then removed the mask and cut out the inked image with an Ovals Collection Framelit. I framed it with another oval I cut out after I traced around the same framelit I had cut out the goose with and then hand-cut it with my Paper Snips. I sponged the edges of the oval with Crumb Cake ink. I adhered the ovals with Stampin Dimensionals to my card front, which I had layered with two strips of Sweater Weather Designer Series Paper.

Wetlands 3

For the finishing touches on the greeting, which is also included in the Wetlands set, I heat-embossed it with Early Espresso powder, cut it out with a Circle Thinlet Card Framelit, and sponged the edges with Crumb Cake ink. I tied a thread from the 1 1/4" Burlap Ribbon through a Naturals Designer Button and then adhered it to the card front with a Stampin' Dimensional.

Wetlands 4

Inside I used a phrase from Delightful Dozen which I also Early Espresso heat-embossed. It just gives a little bit more texture, even without anything else done to it!

Wetlands 2
That's all for now. Thanks so much for checking in with me today. Until tomorrow, have a Stampingrox! day!

Stampin'Up! Remembering Christmas Goes Camo!

I've been finalizing my projects for my classes this weekend, so I've been having fun stamping my heart out!

Today's card uses the Holiday Catalog set, Remembering Christmas, is a different way:

Remembering Christmas 1

The neatest feature of this card I CASED from this card I showed you HERE. Meg Wheeler used one of the Clear-Mount Perfectly Placed Guides to create her "bullseye/scope" effect, so I repeated it for my card. I put the guide on my copier, copied it 6 times, then cut out all 6 of the guides I needed to cover one sheet of copy paper. I was then able to copy them onto a piece of 8 1/2 x 11" Very Vanilla. After cutting each "bullseye" with my Paper Trimmer, I then stamped the deer on it with Chocolate Chip ink and my Stamp-a-majig.

After the deer was stamped I then added my "camo" look by stamping three different stamps from Gorgeous Grunge around him with Garden Green, Pear Pizzazz, and Crumb Cake ink. I finished my dirty-hunting look with Crumb Cake sponged all around the edges.

Stamps: Remembering Christmas #131760 Wood $17.95 #131763 Clear $13.95, Gorgeous Grunge #130514 Wood $24.95 #130517 Clear $17.95, Hello Lovely #128610 Wood $32.95 #130243 Clear $24.95

Cardstock: Chocolate Chip, Crumb Cake, Garden Green, Very Vanilla

Ink: Chocolate Chip, Crumb Cake, Garden Green, Pear Pizzazz

Big Shot: Woodgrain Textured Impressions Folder #127821 $7.95

Accessories: Clear-Mount Perfectly Placed Guides #121785 $5.95, Stampin' Sponge, 1 1/4" Burlap Ribbon #132140 $7.95, Modern Label Punch, Paper Snips, Neutrals Candy Dots #130934 $5.95, Stamp-a-majig #101049 $11.95, SNAIL, Stampin' Dimensionals, Tombow Multi-Purpose Glue

Remembering Christmas 3

"You're the BEST" is actually the "Thank You You're the BEST" stamp from Hello Lovely. After stamping in Chocolate Chip ink I hand-cut with my Paper Snips, omitting the "thank you". It is adhered with SNAIL adhesive to the Garden Green Modern Label that I sponged with Crumb Cake ink. I flanked the greeting with two Chocolate Chip Candy Dots from the Neutrals package. The label is adhered with Stampin' Dimensionals to the cut-down-snipped-and-frayed piece of 1 1/4" Burlap Ribbon. I adhered the Burlap Ribbon to the card front with Tombow Multipurpose Adhesive Glue.

Remembering Christmas 2
I always have the hardest time deciding what to stamp on the inside of my card, but this time was no problem! I continued the "camo" look with the Gorgeous Grunge stamps and the "you make me happy", which is also from Hello, Lovely!

That's all for now! Thanks so much for stopping in to see my creation today!

Stampin'Up! Remembering Christmas!

Hello! I'm back with a couple of swaps I've received using the Holiday Catalog set, Remembering Christmas!

When I first saw this set in the catalog, I thought, "I don't need this set! That's at least ONE set I won't buy!"

Well, I was WRONG!

First, here's what you might consider the "traditional" use of the deer head in this set:

Remembering christmas 1 posted
The deer has been stamped on Night of Navy with Whisper White Craft ink( just found out she used the Illuminate Glimmer Pad. There are no recipes on our swap cards so sometimes I just have to guess), then cut out with one of the Apothecary Accents Framelits. A Smokey Slate Apothecary Accents Framelit was cut in half and layered behind it. Merry Christmas from More Merry Messages (on the Carryover List) was stamped on a strip of Winter Frost Designer Specialty Paper, then snipped on one end to create the banner look. A tiny snippet of Silver 1/8" Ribbon was tied on the other end for a little sparkle. The Whisper White layer was embossed with the Stylish Striped Textured Impressions Folder to complete the classic look.

It was a nice card, but still not enough to make me buy this set. My husband doesn't hunt, but one of my SIL's is an avid hunter. Imagine my surprise when I opened my swap envelope last month and found this:

Remembering christmas 2
This swap was created by Meg Wheeler. She used the Woodgrain Textured Impressions Folder for her card base. She inked the negative side of the folder with Basic Black ink before running through the Big Shot. Meg used one of the Clear-Mount Perfectly Placed Guides on her copier to print the "bulls-eye" and grid on the Very Vanilla cardstock. She stamped the deer head and the bullet-hole-resembling splotches from Gorgeous Grunge in Jet Black StazOn before adding "Greetings of the Season" from the Greetings of the Season stamp set to a Window Sheet. The adhesive to hold the window sheet on the card are Glue Dots and are located on the splotches in order to camoflage them.

To tell you how neat this card is, when I showed it to my husband, even HE was impressed, and I think "greetings of the season" is a great play on words for hunting season, yes?

This second card would make a perfect card for any reason for the hunter in your life!

Well, I'd better get going! Lots to do today!

To place an order, just click on the "shop now" button to go to my online store, then follow the prompts after you click the "Products" tab and then the "Shop Now" tab.

Until tomrrow, have a Stampgingrox! day!

Stampin'Up! Harvest Blessings Birthday!

Good Morning! Today I am headed to my Aunt & Uncle's 60th Anniversary Celebration! I am also taking three of my grandkids with me; Ava, Cohen, and Jaxon! I am excited to show them off to relatives I rarely get to see! It's about a 3 hour drive north to Hartsburg, Illinois (and a 3 hour drive back!) so it's a big day ahead of us!

Today I want to show you this card we made at my "Best Of" class yesterday, using Harvest Blessings, Best of Birthdays, and the water drops stamp from the My Paper Pumpkin Try-it Kit! This is a 4 1/4" square card. I  like to use this size sometimes just to do something a little different from the regular 5 1/2" x 4 1/4"!

All products used are ©Stampin'Up!™1990-2013

Tractor 1

The card base is Baked Brown Sugar, layered with Marina Mist, then Soft Sky. All stamping and sponging was done with Baked Brown Sugar (isn't that just the YUMMIEST name?) ink and we added a Baked Brown Sugar Candy Dot in the lower right corner. This was my first time using a Candy Dot, and I think I'm in love! They are so easy to lift off the packaging with a Paper Piercing Tool, and simple to apply with the adhesive already on them! FUN!

After stamping and sponging we also embossed the top layer with the Chevron Textured Impressions Folder. I think it gives the look and feel of tractor-tire tread, what do you think?

Tractor 2

Finally, on the inside we stamped with a phrase from the Bring On the Cake stamp set, along with the pumpkin/apple basket stamp and the "you are the seed . . ." stamp from Harvest Blessings.

That's all for now. Until tomorrow, have a Stampingrox! day!

Happy Father's Day! Secret Garden Masked Corners Re-visited!

Good morning! Happy Father's Day! I'm sure many of you will be preparing a meal, or get-together for the fathers in your life, so I will make this a quick post!

My dad passed away 19 years ago. I still miss him and think of him often. He was a great Dad and an even GREATER grandpa! Just ask my oldest three: Jessica, Kimberly, and Troy, they will tell you Grandpa Wall was the BEST!

Yesterday I prepped for my workshops this coming week. One of them is a monthly class/club, so I see several of the same stampers every month. Last month they picked THIS CARD from my display to do this month. Two of the ink colors, all of the word stamps, and the ribbon retired on May 31, so I re-worked the card using all current products:

Secret Garden 1

What do you think? I kept the Secret Garden stamps and Framelits Collection, then substituted Blushing Bride for Pretty in Pink, Pear Pizzazz for Lucky Limeade, Pear Pizzazz 3/8" Taffeta Ribbon for Certainly Celery ribbon, and a phrase from Best of Greetings instead of the retired Friendly Phrases.

Secret garden 2
Inside I switched out the Beautiful Birthday stamp (one of my all-time favs) for one of the stamps from the new Million & One set (which is quickly becoming a NEW fav of mine)!

Well,I still have some things to prep and gather together for the day! It's church first, of course, then grilling out at Jessica's, swimming, (maybe a nap, who knows?), and generally hanging out with the entire family the rest of the day! I can't wait!

Until tomorrow, have a Stampingrox! day!

Stampin' Up! Open Sea for Father's Day!

Good morning! Today I want to show you the third card we made at SWOW Class this month, a masculine card using the Open Sea stamp set, inspired by Tami White!

Open Sea 1

LOTS of Direct-to-Paper stamping! And can you see the Epic Day This and That Washi Tape?

Open Sea 2

Inside my stampers had the option to add the "DAD" letters or leave blank for a personal message. I LOVE the old ledger-style designs in the Epic Day This and That Designer Paper!

Open Sea 5

We did some gradient-color stamping with a stamp from Clockworks that has hidden "seagull" images! We started with Soft Sky ink, then stamped with Pool Party, then finished with Island Indigo! After stamping the ship image with Jet Black StazOn, we re-whitened the ships' sails with a White Gel Pen.

Open Sea 3
The background layer of Epic Day This and That Designer Paper was embossed with the Chevron folder, then sponged with Pool Party to make the design pop!

That's all for today! I have another workshop to get ready for this evening, so I will be busy! Hope your day Stampingrox!

Stampin' Up! Clockworks for the Guys!

Good morning! It's raining here this morning, which does NOT make my farmer hubbby happy. They still have some planting to do that has been rain-delayed for quite some time, and this mornings'  moisture is extending the delay more. But they will find something productive to do, so the day will not be wasted, just frustrating!

Today begins my four-workshops-in-five-days week! Eeeek! I've designed a couple of cards that I think will work for just about all of them all week. You saw the first one yesterday, the Happy Day "smile" card. Today's card is a masculine birthday/father's day one using Clockworks. I've designed and prepped the packets for this card so the stamper can choose to either create a birthday  or a Father's Day card:

Clockworks simple birthday 1

Since the Clockworks set lends itself so easily to a "collage stamping" look, I kept the layers to a minimum. The card base is the yummy new Baked Brown Sugar, stamped with Crumb Cake, Baked Brown Sugar, and Early Espresso. The Early Espresso banner is embossed with the Argyle Textured Impressions Folder, and the sentiment is from Best of Birthdays. We are adding a Naturals Designer Button with a little bit of Early Espresso Baker's Twine for the finishing touch!

Clockworks simple birthday 2

Inside we are stamping a phrase from the fun new Hostess Set, Express Yourself. This is the phrase I have chosen to go with this birthday card, but there are several other phrases (love you, celebrate, amazing you, best wishes) that would work just as well!

Clockworks simple dad 1

The Father's Day card is similar in design, we will just use the "hey there, friend" stamp from the My Paper Pumpkin Try It kit. We will omit the "friend" word by inking up with an Early Expresso Stampin' Write Marker, then we will add in the "DAD" with a stamp created with the photopolymer set, Designer Type! The splatter stamp is also from the MPP Try It kit. While the monthly kits are only available when you subscribe by the 10th of each month, the Try It kit is available for purchase at any time, so you CAN still get these two cute and versatile stamps! Go to My Paper Pumpkin to order your kit today!

Clockworks simple dad 2
Inside another Hostess Set, Banner Greetings!

I also have a stepped-up version of these cards with more layers and lots of sponging:

Stampin' Up! Sparkly Window Sheet & Brayer Tapping!

Good morning! I'm getting really excited! Just two more sleeps before I leave for Fiji! I can't wait! My first trip out of the country where I will actually SLEEP on foreign soil! (well, I guess I have slept in Canada, but it was years ago when I was on vacation with my parents, and Canada is just the "Northern Version" of America, so it hardly counts as foreign!)I'm not packed yet, but am a bit worried how I'm going to get everything stuffed into one suitcase with a 50 lb limit and one 15 lb. carryon! The airline is allowing one free checked back under 50 lbs, but another bag will cost $5 per pound! Yikes! Stampin' Up! always gives us great pillow gifts, so I am packing an extra medium-sized duffle to check going home just in case!

I know you didn't come here to learn about my travel packing woes, you came here to see some fun projects, and I don't think you will be disappointed!

Please note: all products used are ©Stampin'Up!™1990-2013 unless stated otherwise.

First up, a cute masculine card created by Kathy Stephenson using a technique she calls "brayer tapping" with the Dapper Dad stamp set!

This card is even more sparkly, iridescent, and shimmery in real life than the picture can show! I love it!

Well, that's all for today! I have my "Best of" class here at my house this afternoon, then I must finish the preparations for the Fundraiser/Vendor Fair at the Lutheran Church in Nashville, IL for tomorrow!

Until then, have a Stampingrox! day!
