Stampin' Up! Field Flowers Card Box!

It's Saturday and we've had one good night home from the hospital. Alisa & Cody are exhausted from the ordeal of worry and care for Oakley. We are hoping they will get caught up on their rest just a little bit (but who really rests with a newborn?) Lots of napping going on around here!

Here's Alisa & Oakley before they left the Cardinal Glennon NICU:

Oakley in nicu

Oakley's next blood test and doctor's appointment is scheduled for Monday. Please pray his numbers stay down and they can settle into a normal new-baby routine.

I thought I would try to show you a new swap today. I have swaps from the two organized swaps I participated in at convention, but haven't had any time to take pictures of them yet. My downline and friends swapped them for me.

Today's swap is from the second monthly swap I joined recently. This is from the June swap. I did not get to participate in the July swap because of all the Oakley excitement.

This swap is a "card box" created with the Field Flowers set and Pink Pirouette cardstock:

Field flowers box 2

The greeting is from the Hostess set, Banner Greetings.

Field flowers box 1
Not a particularly mail-able card, but a candybar would fit in here nicely, don't you think?

That's all for now. Tomorrow is Sunday Swap Day. I know I've almost only shown you swaps this month, but I hope you can forgive me for that since we've had so much going on. I hope to get back to creating next week if all continues to go well with Oakley.

Until tomorrow, have a Stampingrox! day!

Home Again!

I'll bet some of you who check my blog daily have been wondering what happened to me. This past Tuesday Oakley was taken by ambulance to Cardinal Glennon Children's Hospital in St Louis to be treated for a high jaundice count, 23.5. He was put under the blue lights and given IV fluids to help his little body to process the excess bilirubin.

He has made a swift recovery with no adverse effects. We returned home today with apts for follow-up blood tests and doctor appointment on Monday. We have to be extra careful for the next several days to make sure his fluid intake is ample so he can continue to  keep his levels down, but otherwise he is a perfectly normal little fellow.

They really have no explanation for what caused this to happen, but we are just thankful we caught it in time before the count went any higher.

That's all for now. We are all exhausted.

Until tomorrow, have a Stampingrox! day!

Baby Oakley Has Arrived!

I am VERY HAPPY to announce the arrival of baby Oakely Dentyn Hiller!

Tuesday, July 16th, 8:55 p.m.

7 lbs. 14 oz.

21 3/4" long!

LOTS of dark hair!

Mother & baby are doing great! Tired, but great!

Here he is!

Oakley 1

He's wearing the onesie his mommy created for him to announce her pregnancy on Christmas Eve last year. "Swody" is a blend of our family name for her, "Sweed", and his daddy's name, Cody!

That strange thing attached to Oakley's ankle is the hospital security device. If someone were to try to leave the hospital with this attached to a baby, all the doors and elevators would lock and shut down!

Here's all the "Mark & Carol Payne Grandkids" as of today:

Payne grandkids 1
l to r: Ava Claire, Liam Percival, Maddie Kate, Oakley Dentyn, Jaxon William, and Johnny Mark Cohen!

I am SO BLESSED!!!!!

I'm tired too, as I spent all of yesterday at the hospital, but it's a happy tired!

Not much else to report, this is my world right now!

Until tomorrow, have a Stampingrox! day!

NSR: Baby Oakley is On His Way!

Quick post! Just wanted to let you know that Baby Oakley is on his way! They went into the hospital at 9 last night to get things started!

The original plan was for me to wait until this morning to go in, but since it's a new hospital (and I needed to see my baby girl!) Mark & I went in for a little while last night!

Here's the Mommy & Daddy, waiting for their little fellow to arrive:

So now it's almost 6 a.m. and Jessica is on her way to pick me up and we are going in together. Jessica is the official birth photographer and I just get to be there! Yay!

Pray for a safe delivery and a healthy little baby boy!

My day ALREADY Stampingrox!

Stampin' Up! Label Love & Soho Subway for Maddie Kate!

Good morning! Just wanted to show you quickly a few pics from Maddie Kate's birthday party last night and the card I made for her!

All products are ©Stampin'Up!™1990-2013

First, the birthday girl!

Birthday girl

And of course she had to blow out the candles! Her mom made the cake, which she always does for birthdays. This year instead of "happy birthday" like usual, she wrote "She has the sophistication of a woman of TWELVE", a favorite quote from the movie "Little Rascals"!

And here's the card I made for her! I didn't want to post this until after she received it. Who wants a card everyone has seen before you do?

Label love for maddie kate 1
Very Vanilla, Crisp Cantaloupe, Baked Brown Sugar, and Island Indigo coordinate perfectly as the listed colors in the new Soho Subway designer paper coming in the NEW Catalog in just a little over a week!

The Label Love birthday greeting was punched with the Artisan Label punch, then layered on two more punched labels for the mat. They are attached to the card front with Stampin' Dimensionals.

Label love for maddie kate 2
I used an Window Sheet technique I learned in Fiji to attach the Big Shot Typeset Alphabet letters for her name on the inside when she opened the card!

Label love for maddie kate 3
For the third dimension of this card I stamped the cake from Make a Wish (in the Occasions catalog now but IS carrying over into the new catalog!) once in Baked Brown Sugar, once in Island Indigo, once in Crisp Cantaloupe on Very Vanilla scraps, then once in Crisp Cantaloupe on the Very Vanilla card layer. I fussy-cut out the individual cake layers with my Paper Snips, then attached them with a Stampin' Dimensional under each layer.

My final touch is just a teeny-tiny bit of Clear Dazzling Details on the candle flames! LOVE it!

Oh, and the "CELEBRATE" is from Seasonal Sayings, and the "you mean SO much to SO many people" is from One in a Million!

That's all for now! Maddie Kate's little sister, Ava Claire, spent the night with me while Maddie had 5 of her girlfriends spend the night, and today we  are going to have mani's and pedi's, and who knows what else we will do? We watched a couple of stamping videos before Ava went to sleep (Ava is a girl after her Grammie's own heart, she LOVES to stamp too!), so we may do a little stamping too!

Until tomorrow, have a Stampingrox! day!

Happy Birthday, Maddie Kate!

NSR warning: This post will contain no stamping. NONE. Move on to my next post if you are not interested in hearing me rave about my oldest granddaughter, Maddie Kate!

Maddie Kate turns 12 today, which is also the anniversary of my becoming a grammie!

Maddie is beautiful, inside & out. She loves the Lord and her family. It never occurs to her to be disloyal to her sister or brothers. She often prefers to spend time with us rather than go do things with her friends.

She can be goofy:                                            She can be cute:

Mk 2                        Mk

She sings:

All of the kings are only pretenders

She loves sports & tumbling and just a few weeks ago earned a spot on her 7th grade Cheerleading squad for the 2013-2014 school year.

She also loves to bake. She finds recipes to try on Pinterest. Often I will find her in the kitchen baking up something yummy!

She is organized and always ready for the next event.

She always has a hug for me and her grandpa.

Maddie 1

When Maddie was in kindergarten we started the tradition of making her valentines together. This tradtion continues and now includes her sister, Ava, and brother, Cohen. In a few years we will be making valentines for Jaxon, Liam, and Oakley!

In 2011 she chose to spend the weekend with me attending a family wedding in Tennessee rather than spend the night with a friend. She told her mom, "I can spend the night with my friends anytime, but how often will I get to go to a wedding with my grammie?"

This year she asked to go shopping with us during Spring Break!

I am so thankful and honored to be her grammie. God has blessed me with 5 grandchildren so far, soon to be six. It's amazing how the love in my heart for them just keeps multiplying!

Proverbs 17:6 says, "Children's children are a crown to the aged, . . ." I guess that puts me in the "aged" category, but I don't mind. I'm blessed to be able to see my grandchildren often and to be able to participate in their lives.

We are going to Maddie Kate's family birthday party tonight. A couple of years ago her mom, Jessica, decided to stop having a family party for her and just have a friend party, but this year Maddie requested a family party again. She's truly a special girl!

So happy birthday, Maddie Kate. Your grammie loves you with all her heart!

Stampin' Up! Dolled Up Birthday Kit and Mother's Day Family Time!

Good morning! I had a FABULOUS day yesterday! My day started with church, which is not unusual for me on Sunday at all, but what made it even more special is my daughter, Kimberly, was asked to speak during the service. She spoke about God's timing being so much better than our timing. I was very blessed by her comments. Then after church we all went to Cracker Barrel for lunch, which of course was a madhouse, but the food was good, as usual, and I love it when we all go together "en masse"!There were 15 of us today. We were minus Logan because he is still in Rolla for his finals week coming up, then he will be home for two weeks before the summer semester. If all goes as planned he will be graduating NEXT May!

Here's a few pics from the day:

Johnny & co

Johnny showing Cohen the fine points of the game!

Mark & alisa

Alisa & her Daddy sharing a joke! (she's due in less than 10 weeks!)

Liam after

Liam all perky at the other end of the table!

I received some fun gifts from my kids, including a canvas of my 6 kids which matches my Facebook personal page header! I love looking at that picture, and now I will have one hanging in my home! Yay! (I have to admit, it sure is a nice perk to being the photographer's mom!)

Before I start my day today, I wanted to show you one of the cards we made at Krystal's party on Saturday using the Dolled Up Birthday Kit #133913 $15.95 :

Dolled up 1

Happy Mother's Day!

Good morning! Let me start off by saying this is a special day for me in so many ways, and I hope your day, regardless of whether you are a mom or not, is special.

Growing up as a girl in the 60's, I always wanted to be a mommy. I played dolls and Barbies and "house" by myself and with my friends incessantly. It was always our main topic of play. We all wanted to be beautiful like Audra on "Big Valley", and even though we all had those crazy short pixie haircuts with ridiculously short bangs, we dreamed of long, blonde tresses and a hunky cowboy to sweep up off our feet.

In August of 1970 my dream world was shattered. My mommy, Milly, was taken by that nasty thing called cancer. She started smoking at the tender age of 12, back behind the barn rolling cornsilks with her best friend. By age 48 she was gone- an inoperable brain tumor from metastatic lung cancer. I was almost 11.

Valentine's Day 1971 brought a new woman into my life, Justine. A widow of one year, she married my dad and took on the task of raising a willful, unruly, and extremely lonely young girl. She saw me through my pre-teen and teen years, teaching me some valuable things along the way. Although a "stepmother" , she didn't live up to her "wicked" predecessors. An accomplished seamstress, she didn't teach me to sew, but provided me with all the tools necessary to learn: patterns, fabric, thread, and a little space of my own to use my mother's machine. Countless times I would be working on an outfit (I sewed all my own clothes through High School) and would go to her for advice on how to execute a certain complicated sewing procedure. Her inevitable reply, "Read your pattern", would infuriate me and I would stomp away mad, but determined to figure it out myself. To this day I know my ability to figure out just about any problem stems directly from her insistence that I "read my pattern".

I only had one grandma, Grandma Mabel, but she made up for the lack of grandma's in my life by making me and each and every one of her many grandchildren feel like they were her favorite. It has always been my goal to be like her for my children and grandchildren.

I married my handsome husband, Mark, in 1977 and became a mom in 1978. When they laid baby Jessica in my arms it was as if I had been waiting for her all my life. I was a young mom, barely 19, but I knew she and her two sisters, Kimberly and Alisa, and three brothers, Troy, Logan, and Ben, that would eventually follow were my life's calling.

Now Jessica has Maddie Kate, Ava Claire, Cohen and Jaxon. Kimberly has little Liam, and Alisa will be presenting us with baby Oakley in early July. My love and gratitude has multiplied, not divided, to include three awesome son-in-laws: Johnny, Tony, and Cody.

On this day that is set aside to thank mothers, I want to thank God for allowing me the privilege to be a mother, and for giving me two moms to help me on my journey to becoming the mom I believe God wanted me to be. No mom is perfect, but I'm thankful for God's grace and patience with me, and providing me with good role models.

Thank you to my mother, Milly, for giving me life and loving me until she went to heaven. Thank you, Justine, for taking me on, sticking with the job, and teaching me so many useful things. Thank you, Lord, for always being with me and blessing me with all of my family.

No cards today.

Just thankfulness.

Don't know about you, but my day REALLY Stampingrox!

See ya tomorrow!

Stampin' Up! Fiji Swaps! Best of Butterflies & Pure Gumption!

Good morning! Bula! (I just can't seem to stop myself from using this Fijiian greeting, I heard it from everyone I met in Fiji! I also noticed that men tended to emphasize the first part of the greeting more, pronouncing it "BOO-lah" with a very heavy sound, and the women pronounced it much more lightly - "bu-LAH")

Anyway, I have THREE fun swaps to show you from the swap boards in Fiji. Because they were attached to the board I have no idea who the creators are, but they are very fine swaps!

Note: all products used are ©Stampin'Up!™1990-2013 unless otherwise stated.

First, an ingeniously folded grad-cap card using the stamp set, Pure Gumption and Parker's Patterns Designer Paper!

Pure gumption

Next two swaps using the 25th Anniversary Collection stamp set, Best of Flowers!

This one is clean-and-simple, just the way a sympathy card should be:

Best of flowers 1

This one has some color popped with a Sponge Dauber and some Dazzling Diamonds Glitter added with a 2-way Glue Pen. The largest Apothecary Accents Framelit was used to both frame the focal image and to cut the Basic Black mat behind it. The Lacy Brocade-embossed layer has been sponged with some Frost White Shimmer Paint!

Best of flowers 2

That's all for now! I'm off today to see Liam! I haven't given him a hug in over a week! I'm dying to see him! Then this evening I will be attending Maddie Kate's end-of-school choir concert! Yay!

Until tomorrow, have a Stampingrox! day!

Stampin' Up! Bombs Away Birthday & My Crazy Friday!

Happy late Saturday Morning! Whew! Yesterday really wore me out! It was one of those days where everything happens on top of each other so you feel like you are in six places at once, but it was ALL GOOD and I feel SO BLESSED!!!!

I will just give you a quick run-down of my day:

8 a.m. I leave my house to drive the 21 minutes to Kimberly's to pick up my grandson, Liam. On the way home we make a quick trip around Kroger to pick up some groceries and get gas. Liam has discovered there IS such a thing as a strange face, so bursts into hysterical tears when only 3 feet away from me down the check-out line.

10 a.m. We get home and Ben helps me bring in all my groceries and Liam. Mark comes home and I put Liam down for his morning nap while I get a shower.

11:30 a.m. Jessica drops off Cohen & Jaxon so she can run some errands in Mt Vernon. I fix lunch.

12:45 p.m. Liam gets up from his nap and Jaxon goes down for his nap at 1. They use the same pack-n-play, of course, so the bed barely gets cold in between!

1:15 p.m. Liam and I head back to Mt Vernon to meet Jessica for pedicures. Like me, Jessica is so busy with her photography business she rarely gets a moment to enjoy a little perk like this.

3:00 p.m. Liam, Jessica & I meet Alisa & Cody, Cody's Mom Diane, and Kimberly at Alisa's dr. We all get to watch the 4-D sonogram of Alisa & Cody's coming baby boy, Oakley!

4:00 p.m. I arrive back home minus Liam, who stayed with his mom of course, to pack up to go to the Honduras Fundraiser.

5:00 p.m. My dear Downline, Linda Reaney, arrives with her granddaughter, Brooklyn, to ride back up to Mt Vernon with me to the Fundraiser.

11 p.m. Arrive back home from the Fundraiser!

Can you see why it's taken me until late morning to get around to blogging?????

Here's some pictures of my day (I'm amazed I had time to think to take any pictures! I wish I had taken more!)
