Stampin' Up! Dragonfly Garden True Friend!

Hey there! Today's card is green, but it isn't St. Patrick's Day green. I don't have to worry about being pinched today whether I wear green or not as I will be staying home all day with Fiona! lol!

I decided to play around with the alcohol marker/alcohol technique a little bit to try and replicate a card I found on Pinterest. The person who uploaded it didn't have any directions, as I don't believe it was their card anyway, so I just winged it. My card doesn't look much like the inspiration piece, but that's ok!

I started with a layer of 4" x 5 1/4" Very Vanilla. I stamped the flower stems one at a time, sprinkled with gold embossing powder, and then heated before I stamped the next flower so I could place them where I wanted. Then I stamped the greeting and the dragonflies (which also sort of look like butterflies). I used images from both the Dragonfly Garden and Garden Wishes stamp sets. Next I scribbled color on the flower heads and the dragonflies with a Dark Magenta Madness Stampin' Blends Alcohol Marker. I then used a watercolor brush to dab 91% Rubbing Alcohol on each bloom to cause the color to pool and spread. 91% alcohol dries pretty quickly, so I was then able to color around and over the gold embossed stems and background with a Light Soft Succulent Stampin' Blends marker.

My next step was to dab tiny dots of liquid glue over the layer. I let it set to dry tacky for a few  minutes, then pressed Gilded Leafing onto the card front. I then used a dry brush to flick away the leafing that was not stuck to the glue.

I tied Gold 3/8" Fine Art Ribbon around the card, tying in a simple knot.

I really love how the Dark Magenta Madness pops against the muted Soft Succulent color.

I added a Dragonfly Garden sentiment and a few more flowers stems inside with gold heat embossing.
