Stampin' Up! Hey Valentine for a Birthday!

Hey there! This card was in my latest newsletter, but if you don't subscribe you didn't get to see it. A hostess liked a valentine card in my display, but I changed it for a birthday. I played around with the fishy stamp, Birthday Bash Specialty Designer Paper, and Irresistibly Yours Specialty paper to come up with this:

A Bermuda Bay card base, a strip of Birthday Bash Specialty, and a strip of Irresistibly Yours that I rolled on Crushed Curry ink with my brayer started my card. I added a "Polaroid" Basic Black frame cut with the On Film Framelits Dies. After stamping the fish with Memento Tuxedo Black ink, I colored with Daffodil Delight, Calypso Coral, Bermuda Bay, and Pool Party Stampin' Write Markers, added googly eyes,  and a bit of Dazzling Diamonds glitter. A Coastal Cabana button from the Sale-a-bration Best Year Every Accessory Pack, a bit of Bermuda Bay Baker's Twine, and a Calypso Coral arrow cut with a framelit also from the On Film Framelits Dies were the finishing touches.

To change this stamp from valentine to birthday, I selectively inked the stamp, leaving the "valentine" word un-inked. After stamping, I then added "happy birthday" from my faithful stand-by set, Teeny Tiny Wishes.

Inside was made complete with a sentiment from the Perfect Pennants set, and a 1/2" strip of Birthday Bash paper along the side. I always make sure I stamp a coordinating look on my envelope too.

As my final touch I stamped just the tiniest fish on the bottom corner, but I rocked my stamp a bit and stamped an extra "edge". You can't remove those edges, as there is no such thing as an "ink eraser", so I made the best of it by adding a bit of Dazzling Diamonds glitter to the edge using my 2-way glue pen. It looks like more of the water swirls on the front of the card!

So adorable and smart to re-use a purposed Holiday stamp set. Whoever received this card is sure to fall in love with the fish and not know it's intended purpose (the stamp set!)....and your little fish and glitter...perfect touch!
