Stampin' Up! Punched Sheriff Santa!
November 03, 2012
Happy Saturday! I was working last night on the projects for a workshop I am doing in Salem, IL, on Monday night. This group likes punch art, and although they are not in my punch club, I decided to give them a fresh punch project!
My "Santa Sheriff" is a refresh of the "Santa Cowboy" I made last year about this time:
I used just about al the same shapes as last time, with the exception of the Pennant Builder Punch. I decided to not add the punched holly sprig to his hat and instead added a Silver Glimmer Paper star punched with the itty-bitty star in the Merry Minis Punch Pack!
This year's version is also a gift card holder like last year, but in a different style:
Instead of the Woodgrain Background stamp I used last year, I ran some of the Early Espresso Core'dinations Cardstock through my Big Shot in the Woodgrain Embossing Folder! (I need to remember to use NO TABS on my Big Shot when I use this folder with the Core'dinations Cardstock as this piece was very fragile and cracking when I took it out of the folder after using TAB 1. I had to use a lot of extra SNAIL to keep it togther when I put it on my project.) But I really love this effect!
I LOVE the way my greeting layer turned out! I wanted something with a Western flair, and found this "MERRY CHRISTMAS" in the set I received free as an Sr. Manager with Stampin' Up!, "Chock-Fullof Cheer"!
Here's how I made the layer:
I stamped the greeting in Real Red Classic ink on a scrap strip of Crumb Cake that was 1" wide. I then put it in my Decorative Label Punch, centered the words in the center of the label and punched it out:
I then punched out a second Decorative Label with Real Red cardstock, cut it in half lengtwise like a hotdog bun, trimmed off the tips from the center of the label as shown, and attached them to the back side of the stamped layer with SNAIL:
I always hope that when I refresh a project I will like it as well or better than the original, and in this case I DO!
I have a workshop this afternoon with Katie Wolters and her mom, Patty, and I am really looking forward to it! I get to do at least a couple of workshops with them each year, plus I get to see them at other friend's parties, so we are good friends!
Here's one of the cards Katie picked out from my display to make today:
Yes, I DO take requests!
Until tomorrow, have a Stampingrox! Day!

I saw somewhere where you could put a piece of wax paper inside you embossing folder (specially with the woodgrain folder) and that will keep it from cracking and ripping. TFS
