Stampin' Up! On Stage Live in Salt Lake City!

Hey there! I'm in Salt Lake City, UT for Stampin' Up! OnStage Live! Yesterday travel day that started in the wee morning hours so my travel buddy, Joanne Cantrell, and I could get the St. Louis airport. Actually my day started off with a bang, waking up with a start at 4:30 to discover we had no power! Scared that I had overslept, I fumbled for a cellphone check the time. I laid back down for a few minutes and thankfully the power came back on. I was beginning to wonder if I wasn't meant to make this trip, but after leaving at 6 a.m., my husband texted me a few minutes later that the power went back down right after I left! So here we are!

Yesterday we toured the Stampin' Up! Home Office and Distribution Center. I have visited here before, but Joanne had not.The building is beautiful, with a waterfall in the front atrium, which you can see the trees just a bit in the background of this picture. Stampin' Up! is known for their quality products and attention to detail, and this facility is a perfect example of just that!

We had a bit of an adventure on the bus heading to the Home Office. At a stoplight, our bus changed lanes and then had to stop and back up just a little bit when the light turned red. A little car behind us ran into the back of the bus! Neither vehicle was damaged, but we spent several minutes on the side of the road waiting for the police report. We were one of the last tours of the day, and so grateful we didn't miss out!

I will be back this evening with the Stamper's Dozen Blog Hop! Our theme this month is "Forever Friends". The hop starts tonight at 9 p.m Central, remaining up all day tomorrow, so be sure to come back to check it out and take the hop!

I am VERY EXCITED because today we get to see the NEW 2016/2017 ANNUAL CATALOG! squeeee! I won't be able to share anything with you until next week after the catalog goes live for all demonstrators worldwide, but I will be seeing, learning, and using new products over the next few days, so rest assured I will be sharing with you!

Stampin' Up! Orlando Leadership Bound!

Hey there! I know I've been quiet for a few days, because I've been preparing my swaps for the Stampin' Up! Leadership Conference in Orlando Florida. We were scheduled to fly down yesterday afternoon, but I cam down with a tummy bug yesterday and we had to reschedule our flight. We return on Sunday. I'm looking forward to spending a few days in a warmer climate. Tonight we get to go to Disney for a few hours for Manager's Reception! yay!

I hope to get to post some new ideas while I'm there, but if not, you can be sure I will have LOTS to share after I get home!

Until then, have a Stampingrox! day!

Stampin' Up! Founder's Circle Day Two!

Hey there! Oh my! Stampin' Up! really knows how to spoil their demonstrators! Thank you Stampin' Up! and my stampin' customer friends for making it possible for me to enjoy this retreat!

Thursday, September 18th was all about relaxing and being spoiled rotten by Stampin' Up!

I spent much of my day in the Gathering Place, relaxing and visiting with friends!

Stampin' Up! decorated the Gathering Place to reflect the "Home for the Holidays" theme!

This is my friend Derek Christiansen. Derek & I go way back to the first Stampin' Up! Regional I ever attended. Derek & I have a special bond because he interviewed me on stage at the Kansas City Regional. It was his and my first appearance on stage for Stampin' Up! Derek is now runs all of the events for Stampin' Up!, but he always has time to chat with old friends!

Founder's Circle wouldn't be Founder's Circle without yummy treats:

Besides offering a vast array of yumminess for our tummies, each jar was beautifully decorated with adorable tags to inspire our creativity!

Pretty much all the decor was accented with products from the Stampin' Up! Holiday Catalog! BTW: we get to keep the mug! yay!

The highlight of this day, of course, is the Business Share and Swap!

Stampin' Up! CEO and Co-Founder, Shelli Gardner, greeted us, then it was on to the Share and the Swap, all while wearing our jammies!

Here's all 113 of the swaps I created with the Bright & Beautiful stamp set and Star framelit dies:

Here are swaps I received in return:

You will be getting to see these up-close in the next few weeks of Sunday Swap Days!

That's all for now! I will be sharing more Founder's Circle fun over the next few days, but be sure to come back tomorrow for Sunday Swap Day!

Until then, have a Stampingrox! day!

Stampin' Up! Founder's Circle Day One!

Hey there. Let me start by stating how very sorry I am for my absence. My hard-drive collapse, coupled with final preparations to leave for the Stampin' Up! Founder's Circle Retreat, and then the whirwind of travel, has left me with no opportunity to blog at all!

Here's my technology status:

  • New hard-drive for computer: CHECK
  • Windows 7 Installed until replacement Windows 8 disc arrives from HP: CHECK
  • Major bookmarks and log-ins re-established: CHECK
  • Pictures re-loaded from camera SD card: CHECK
  • LOOONG process of categorizing said pictures: BEGUN

Things are still not where I want them to be: I still have to re-create my Carol Payne Stamps watermark in Picmonkey, re-edit the three September Christmas Card Class videos and get them uploaded to Youtube, and get my back-up programs established so when (and there's always a when) this happens again it won't be quite so devastating.

That said, let me just say that so far the 2014 Founder's Circle Retreat has been all and more than I expected it to be! If you are my friend on Facebook or follow me on Instagram (if you want to follow me I'm instagrammy1959) you were able to see my progress across the country on Wednesday to first Las Vegas by plane and to St George, Utah by bus.

A couple of weeks ago I received this packet in the mail from Stampin'Up! containing my travel documents and info for the event:
Inside were luggage tags, flight info, and an itinerary for each day:

Arrival day itinerary:

Here's my first glimpse of my home-away-from-home for the next few days;

Each Founder's Circle member has a WHOLE ROOM all their own! You just want to pinch yourself! Each year they decorate the doors with a special memento of the event:

Shortly after our arrival we met in the Gathering Place to pick up our name badges, play a little Holiday Catalog Trivia game, receive a little welcome gift, then our first activity with our teams. I'm a Nutcracker!

Each team worked together to assemble and decorate a gingerbread house!

Stampin_up_founders_circle_nutcrackers 1

We then enjoyed a delicious and beautifully appointed "Holiday Welcome" meal:

Every day we receive gifts, culminating each night with "the pillow gift"! Here's my collection from just Day 1:

Day one gifts

The "lumps of COAL"-wrapped package contained a brand-new stamp set and framelits from next Spring's Occasions Catalog! Sweet!

That's all for now! I will be back tomorrow with more Founder's Circle fun!

Until then, have a Stampingrox! day!

I really loved pairing the Harwood Background with the Soho Subway Designer Paper for this one!

Well, I've got to get a move on. Troy & I leave for the airport in just a little while! I hope to post my Sunday swap day before we get on the boat tomorrow, and hopefully schedule a few more posts for you before I leave, we'll see!

Stampin' Up! 2014 New Catalog Premiere is Tonight!

Hey there! I am SO EXCITED!!!!! Tonight is the Stampin' Up! New Catalog Premiere! Six of my downline and I are taking a road-tripl to Hazelwood, MO (about two hours from here) to attend this brand-new-never-before-held event!

Stampin' Up! is broadcasting the live Catalog Premiere from a theater in Long Beach, California to selected locations around the U.S. The closest theater for us here in Southern Illinois was over in Missouri, so of course we signed up!

We will each receive our own copy of the New 2014 Annual Catalog, watch the broadcast where we will learn about new products from the Catalog, and hopefully receive  a little extra SWAG (new catalog product) too!

At every Stampin' Up! event I attend with my downline, I always give them a little gift for attending. I know it takes effort to prepare for the trip and to  leave family on their own at home. I've been there, done that for the 11+ years I've been a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator, and so I want them to know how much I appreciate them:

I embellished empty wood-mount stamp boxes (which are available in packs of 4 for $6.95 in the Annual Catalog) with the black newsprint design from the Modern Medley Designer Paper pack (Modern Medley paper is retiring) and the logo that Stampin' Up! created to advertise the catalog premiere event.

Patty Bennett, a fellow Stampin' Up! Demonstrator from California shared the logo on a Facebook group we are both members of. She had altered it slightly so I could insert each of my downlines' names! So cool! Thanks, Patty! I used a free online photo-editing website, to insert the names.

Stampin_up_star (2)

After I added the names and printed them out on glossy brochure paper, I cut them out and adhered them to the black newsprint paper, which I had cut 11 1/4" x 8" so I could slide it under the clear plastic shield around the box. I then reduced the size of the photos so I could print them again and adhere them to the spine section of the paper. I was so pleased with the professional look! I added Champagne Glimmer paper stars that I punched with the star punch from the Merry Minis Punch Pack.

Stampin_up_star (1)

After I created and filled the boxes I just needed to make one more thing for them, so I covered these mini legal-sized notepads (I took them to Staples and had them cut them in half) with the same Designer Series Paper and Basic Black cardstock. I used an exclusive demonstrator-only stamp set we received at Leadership this year, Star Stamper, stamped in Cherry Cobbler ink, to create the medallion on the front.

I'm sure some of my downline check my blog or see my posts on Facebook, so although I'm posting the outside of my gift, I'm not sharing whats INSIDE  so there will still be some surprises tonight!

That's all for now! Tomorrow I will be able to show you the front of the catalog, but not the inside. The catalog doesn't officially go "live" for customers until June 1st, so I can't show you the inside pages until then.

Until tomorrow, have a Stampingrox! day!

Stampin' Up! Fiji was Awesome!

Happy Monday! A good nights' sleep in my own time zone goes a long way toward helping counteract the effects of  two LOOOONNNGGG days of going-home travel! Fiji was awesome, the resort was luxurious and comfortable, but my own bed sure felt good!

Today has been a day of unpacking, laundry, and re-orienting myself with my "To Do List" and calendar. Since some of you have already been clamoring for Fiji pictures, I've put together a little overview of our activities and some of my Fiji impressions.

Troy & I waiting to board our first plane in St. Louis. We flew from St. Louis to Chicago, changed planes, then flew from Chicago to Los Angeles.

After about a 5 hour wait in LAX, we boarded this GIGANTIC plane to begin the 10.5 hour flight to Fiji! We flew at a 11 p.m. at night! See how small the trucks are compared to this plane? It was TOWED to the terminal like a cruise ship! Yikes! It was a double-decker plane with a second section of seats on top! Wow! About 400 Stampin' Up! Cruise Achievers & guests on this flight alone!

They served us a dinner and a breakfast during the flight. We slept (fitfully, but I did sleep) in between meals. We each had our own video screen installed in the seat-back in front of us with headphones. I read most of a book during this flight between naps (I read Call the Midwife-excellent read). This was the first hot meal I have ever been served on a plane -chicken & rice, green beans, grapes & crackers, a soft roll & butter, and ice tea!

My first impression upon landing in Fiji at 7 a.m. in the morning was HUMID!!! This picture is foggy because as soon as I took out my camera it immediately fogged up! They had been having more rain than normal for the past few days before our arrival, with a shower just before we landed, so the natural humidity of Fiji was increased! (in case you are wondering, Troy is holding MY pink-flowery carryon!)

After clearing customs, we were transported to the resort by bus to this! We had a comfortable balcony room looking out on the Pacific!

Not only were we off-the-grid technology-wise while in Fiji, we were also on Fiji-time, which is very laid-back and relaxed! I found these clocks for sale illustrating the Fiji attitude toward time perfectly:

Troy taking advantage of one of hammocks by the beach! He had fun learning how to sail a catamaran, and we also took a few spills in the Pacific on a "banana boat" ride!

Troy went deep-sea fishing one day,(yes, he caught 3 Yellow-Fin Tuna!) so I took a tour with some friends. Here we visited a Hindu Temple in Nadi, Fiji. Very beautifully decorated and painted. We had to take off our shoes, and they gave us scarves to wrap around our legs if our knees were showing and around our shoulders to keep us modest.

Our tour took us to an open-air farmers' market. Lots of variety, some familiar and some I'd never heard of before!

This is Kava roots. The natives dig this up, dry it out, then grind it into a powder which is put in a little muslin bag. They put the bag in water, then drink the water. Apparently Kava has some "dope-type" effects, the first of which is making your tongue numb. Yes, I tried it, but just a tiny taste. Some of my group drank a small bowl of it, but my impression was dirty sock water. WHY????

Very different way to present the fruits - $2 a "heap"!

We then visited the "Garden of the Sleeping Gods", a beautiful orchid-garden!

This is one of the two "sleeping gods", silhouetted in the Mountains around the garden. Can you see the face, hair, and body?

I will show you more of my Fiji trip soon, but thought you might like to see a card. This was one of the swaps on display, so I don't know who made it, but it is a vibrantly beautiful Secret Garden sample!

Secret garden p

And lastly, I'm going to leave you with a little challenge! At the orchid garden I took this picture of a lily-pad pond. I know I have made cards in the past with frogs on lily-pads but had never actually SEEN a frog ON a lily pad! In the lily-pad picture below is at least one frog on a lily pad, but there are actually more!

My challenge to you is this:

Count how many frogs you see in the lily-pad picture. Leave a comment with the number of frogs you find here on my blog or LIKE this post if you are seeing it on Facebook and your name will be put in a drawing for this:

Fiji frog give away

The Sent With Love Designer Paper Pack and stamp set, which was available in April 2013 but is now retired.

You will have until Sunday, May 12th to submit your comment or LIKE. I will announce the name drawn on Monday, May 13th, and will post this same picture with all the frogs highligted so you can see them too!

That's all for now. Until tomorrow, have a Stampingrox! day!
