Another Petal Cone Die Project!

This project is one of my favorites, not mailable at all, but a fun graduation project! The Petal Cone Die was turned upside down, a bottom (actually a top) added, and then a card on top as the finishing touch! The "tassel", (which is not CASED but is my own brainstorm!)is actually 5/8" Daffodil Delight Satin Ribbon cut into three strips and braided. I tied off the end with two of the strips, then frayed all the ends to get the tassel-y look! You could tuck some money or a gift card in the base, or just attach it to your gift!

For the inside I used a "Teeny Tiny Wishes" phrase, (pg 157 in the Big Catalog) LOVE that set, it comes in SO handy for just about every occasion! I also love how the fonts are all diferent for the words, so much fun! "You're one of the GOOD ones!" is from "Smarty Pants" on page 152!

The Very Versatile Petal Cone Die!

Last week I showed you the Easter Carrot Box we made at our "Yes, Ma'am's!" downline meeting with the Occasions Mini Petal Cone Die, so I thought today would be a good day to start showing you some of the other projects that can be made with this VERY versatile die!

First, here's a Petal Cone "cone basket" similar to how it is shown on page 15 of the Occasions Mini. I have CASED this project from somewhere, but have not kept track of who's original idea most of these were from, so if this is your's, please let me know so I can give you credit!

Next is a very vintage-y heart shaped basket. I also see Thanksgiving possibilities for this shape! (doesn't this one remind you of a turkey?) I used the "Vintage Wallpaper" Textured Impressions Folder on this one before assembling the box.

Here's a Petal Cone Ice Cream Cone! I used the sprinkles from the "Build a Cupcake" punch and covered them with Crystal Effects to give them the chocolatey yumminess look! The waffle look of the cone was achieved with the "Perfect Details" Texturz Plate. The edge of the ice cream scoop is from the "Tasteful Trim" Bigz XL Die.

Petals-a-Plenty Christmas Tree!

As promised, here is my mini-tutorial for creating an embossed Christmas Tree using the Petals-a-Plenty Textured Impressions Folder and the Big Shot!

I started by using my Hobby Blade and the Cutting Mat to cut two tree-shaped triangles out of a piece of thick cardboard from one of my packages of Candy Candy Christmas Designer Series Paper. The cardboard needs to be pretty thick and sturdy so it can take the place of the bottom acrylic cutting pad.

I attached these two triangles to each other with Sticky Strip.

I then attached the triangle to the positive side (petals popping UP!) of my Petals-a-Plenty Textured Impressions folder with Dotto repositionable adhesive. You want your triangle to be on the bottom of your sandwich going through the Big Shot, (this pic shows everything upside down). Insert your cardstock as shown in the picture so you can perfect the placement of the tree. Flip this all over and run through the Big Shot with this sandwich order: cardboard triangle attached to Impressions Folder, Impressions Folder with cardstock in middle, acrylic cutting plate.

Here's your Petals-a-Plenty Christmas Tree!

Use the journaling tip of a Cherry Cobbler Stampin' Write Marker to just barely apply color to the dots in the centers of the poinsettias and between the flowers. You will have a few slightly embossed petals around the main tree image, but you choose where you want your tree to begin and end by where you color the dots and later where you put the Two-way Glue and Dazzling Diamonds Glitter!

This pic shows part of the tree has had Two-Way Glue applied and sprinkled with Dazzling Diamonds Glitter so you can see the difference of with and without the glitter!

We stamped the inside with a verse from Seasonal Sentiments, and surrounded it with snowflakes from Snow Swirled, all in Cherry Cobbler ink!

After adding a strip of Cherry Cobbler punched with the Dotted Scalloped Ribbon Border and a strip of Deck the Halls Designer Series Paper, we added a greeting from Snow Swirled punched with the Wide Oval punch, matted on a Cherry Cobbler Decorative Label. The finishing touch is a Basic Jewel Rhinestone on the top of the tree!

A Darling Surprise!

I held my Scallop Square Purse Classes this weekend, and my daughter, Alisa, helped me with guiding the class attendees through the steps to make their purses. We held a Friday night class and one on Saturday morning, so she & her husband, Cody, spent the night so she could sleep in until the last minute! She is more of a night-owl than I am, so when I got up on Saturday morning I was delighted to find these adorable baby-sized purses waiting for me!

We had received a request from one of our friends for a toddler-sized Scallop Square purse, and the only requirement was that it be pink! I had commented to Alisa that we needed to try making a purse with the smaller squares from the new Scallop Squares Duo Die in the Holiday Mini. Well, I need to remember from now on that with my Alisa, it is ask-and-you-shall-receive!

To give you more perspective on how tiny these purses are, here's the standard, 6-panel Scallop Square purse we've been making these past months and our customers have made in our purse classes:

More Big Shot Purses!

Thought I would show you a few more of the purses we will have kits available for next Saturday, April 10th!

This was my original Big Shot purse. I made it a couple of months ago and have been carrying it ever since! It's the 6-panel one we will be making at our class, and amazingly holds everything I need and it's not too deep that I can't find what I want! If you have been a customer or hostess of mine lately, I'm sure you've seen this one!

This is the purse I gave to my dear friend and downline, Jan, so although I don't have a sample anymore, SHE does, so you will be able to see a finished example at the class!

 

This is a larger version of the 6-panel purse. We will have 6 panel kits available for this fabric design! The handles for this beautiful turquoise and brown is actually Stampin' Up! Chocolate Chip 1 inch Double Stitched Grosgrain Ribbon with 1/4' Tempting Turquoise grosgrain zig-zagged on top!

This purse is a miniature 4-panel that is perfect for little girls and tweens! We will have a 6-panel kit of this one too!

This beautiful roses purse I gave away to another of my downline, Sandy, so although we won't have the actual example on hand, we will have kits of this gorgeous fabric!

 

If you prefer greens and blues, this purse is the one for you!

 

Or if you like birdies better, you can have your green and blues with birdies!

Before I go I want to show you some cuties I gave to my granddaughters, Maddie Kate & Ava! We won't have kits for these, but I have to show them to you anyway!

Annoucing the Scallop Square Purse Class, Saturday, April 10th!

Isn’t this just an adorable purse? Want to make one like it? You can using the Big Shot Die-cutting machine, the Scallop Square Die, and a sewing machine!

 

I am so excited to share this easy-peasy purse with you! All the fabric squares are cut uniformly with the Scallop Square Die and the Big Shot machine, which makes it a snap to sew together! The flower pin uses the Bigz XL Flower Folds Die and the Big Shot, and goes together in a breeze with a low temp glue gun! (This class will take approximately 3-4 hours to complete your purse and the flower pin)

 

When: Saturday, April 10, 2010

 

Choose one of THREE Session times scheduled: 10 a.m., 2 p.m., and 6 p.m. While this is an easy project, space is limited to 6 participants per session, so RSVP soon to reserve your spot!

 

Where: Wesley United Methodist Church, 1601 Salem Road, Mt. Vernon, IL Contact me for directions. (This is where we held the “Spring Into Stamping” event in February of last year!)

 

Two Class Fee Options: 

Option 1: $35 includes all fabric, batting, supplies, and instructions to make this adorable purse, AND the detachable flower pin! You will have access to our Big Shot & sewing machines, so you can complete your purse at this class!  (alternate fabric choices will be available at the class for you to choose from)

 

Option 2: $20 when you bring your own fabric. You will need to purchase at least three different coordinating fabrics (or whatever YOU like!), at least 1/3 yard of each. Everything else listed above will be provided. (helpful hint: Option #1 is your best bet for speedy assembly!)

Petal Card Cupcake Box!

Good Monday Morning Friends! Hope you all had a great weekend, I sure did! Alas, here's my final WOW swap from Leadership, my Petal Card Cupcake Box! But don't worry, just because I am out of WOW swaps to show you doesn't mean I'm out of stuff to show!

I used my fav again, Melon Mambo, for the cardstock, ink, and ribbon, and the I {LOVE} Love Jumbo wheel, but I also used the Petal Card Die, Big Shot, and Bold Cupcakes Sizzlets. The cupcake "frosting" and heart were cut out using the "Welcome Neighbor" Designer Series Paper Pad, which you can get FREE right now with a $50 order from the Sale-a-bration mini catalog! I crimped the bottom of the cupcake paper with my paper crimper, and also ran the "frosting" through the Big Shot with the new "Perfect Polka Dots" Textured Impressions Folder from the Occasions Mini! I used the new "Medium Jewelry Tag" punch from the Occasions Mini to punch out the "sweet treats" word from Teeny Tiny Wishes!

In case you are wondering, I've been asked this question several times already so here goes:

"If there is a Medium Jewelry Tag punch, will there be a Small and a Large Jewelry Tag punch?"

My official  answer to that question is: "I HAVE NO IDEA!!!!!!" It would make sense for those sizes to be forthcoming in the next mini,  the Summer Mini which begins on May 1st, or in the next Idea Book & Catalog on July 1st, but WHO KNOWS??? One thing you can depend on Stampin' UP! for, they always give us GREAT SURPRISES!!!!!
