The truest measure . . .

This stamp from "Grateful Greetings" says it all for the Thanksgiving holiday. We will be spending Thanksgiving with Mark's brother's family in TN and AL. They just celebrated the birth of their first grandchild (a little boy!) and we can't wait to get down there to see him! Per our tradition for the past few years, we are also taking Mark's mother with us. She is 81, but still as spry as a 70 year-old, in my estimation! It should be a good trip.

Winners of Patterned Pines Stamp Sets!

Congratulations to Betty Everett and Tina Mondino, the winners of the "Patterned Pines" stamp sets I offered for call-in or email-in orders during the Online Extravaganza during the week of Thanksgiving! There were NO ONLINE orders during that time, so the "Snow Buddies" stamp sets remain unclaimed! Don't worry, though, there's another great sale coming along beginning this Friday, December 11th, and I will have some goodies to share with you then!

I also must apologize for the lack of blog posting since before Thanksgiving. I came down with that nasty ear, nose, & throat thing so many are battling right now, and ended up at the drs on the Sunday after Thanksgiving with a double ear infection AND a sinus infection! They loaded me up with antibiotics, prescription cough syrup, and steriods, so for the next week I was not really myself! I'm down to finishing off the antibiotics now, so feeling much better, but now trying to catch up AND get ready for Christmas!

A fun stampin' day with good stampin' friends!

A couple of weeks ago I had the chance to attend an annual event one of my stamping groups has every year. They get together every November on a Saturday morning and have their own "shoebox swap", meaning they each design a Christmas card and bring enough supplies for everyone at the gathering to make their card. They set up their card at one of the tables in the church fellowship hall where the event is always held, then everyone gets to make each other's cards! I've been invited in the past, but usually my busy stampin' party schedule keeps me from being able to attend. This year, however, I was able to put it on my schedule in July, so I got to go, and am I ever glad I did! I got to stamp with alot of supplies from other stampin' companies, which gave me the chance to try some new things out! Some I really liked and will recommend to SU! to consider carrying, and some not so much, but either way, it was loads of fun!

Here are the cards I got to make! (I will put the name of the creator before each card) Almost every card used a Stampin' Up! product, whether it was a stamp, the cardstock, ink, a punch, etc. I was proud that almost everyone used SU! in their creations!

Here's the first one, by Shelby Adams (her card used ALL SU!, including the Scenic Season Stamp set!)

Next, an adorable card by Shirley Quarry! I love her use of the Liquid Applique on this sassy little monkey! Wish SU! would carry that stuff again! I tried to hoard a few tubes back when it was retiring, but found that you really need fresh liquid applique, it turns brown in the tube when it gets a little age to it!

Next, another Scenic Season, this time by Marla Agin! I love her color combo of Not Quite Navy and Always Artichoke!

Karen Moon used "Serene Snowflakes" for her beautiful blues card:

Christy Christensen used our Brilliant Blue cardstock for the base of her card. It coordinated beautifully with the checkered DP!

Another cute little monkey card, this time by Trudy Reed! She used SU! Real Red, Chocolate Chip and Whisper White cardstock along with a felt ribbon we had in our Holiday mini last year!

Betty Everett created this lovely vintage Santa card for us!

011

Sharon Hazely combined SU! Always Artichoke & Sahara Sand cardstock with Real Red ink  and the Eyelet Border punch to create this beautiful card! I need to find time to do an all SU! rendition of this one!

Ronita Murrie created this happy card with SU! Ballet Blue & Whisper White cardstock and our Jumbo Snowflake punch!

013

Elaine Lemonds chose SU! Old Olive cardstock for the base card of her Origami tree!

Jeanette Alexander combined SU! Night of Navy, Whisper White, Basic Black, and Pumpkin Pie cardstock with Iridescent Ice e.p. to create this fun snowman!

Marsha Jones used SU! Ruby Red cardstock, the Scalloped Edge punch, and "Teeny Tiny Wishes" on this sparkly card!

Last but not least, Jana Youssef used Kraft cardstock, Basic Black ink, Whisper White Craft ink, and Real Red 1/4" grosgrain ribbon to complement the punched holly leaves on this card!

It was a very relaxing, enjoyble day which included a fantastic potluck meal and an ornament exchange! I hope I can stamp with these ladies again next year!

Tags, Tags, & More Tags!

I have been crazy over making these tags the past few days! I dream tags, make tags, I'm CRAZY about them! Actually, making my own Christmas tags was what compelled me to become a SU! demo in the first place. I have always loved to make my own tags with last year's Christmas Cards, coordinating wrapping paper, etc. so it was a perfect fit when SU! came along! I have had an overwhelmingly favorable response to these tags, so I am offering both finished product and kits!

Contact me at: carol@carolpaynestamps.com for payment options.

I will be taking orders for these tags and tag kits through Monday, Nov. 23rd, so I can get all the kits shipped out by Monday, Nov. 30th, so contact me today!

Halloween Boo! Bag

I've had such a great response to my Fancy Favor bag with the Autumn Meadows DSP I've been doing at my recent workshops, that I decided to show you what I did with it for Halloween! I used "Twick or Tweet", a really cute set that I hope makes it into next year's catalog, as I haven't used it enough yet! I also used the new Sizzlet Alphabet, "Stampin' Up! Timeless Type Alphabet Junior", which is exclusive to Stampin' Up! (you can't buy it anywhere else!):

©Stampin'Up!™1990-2009

Here's the other project we did at the same party, using "Good Friend" & "Eat, Drink, & Be Scary"! It's not my original, I saved it from an email from one of the online stamping groups I'm a part of, so I can't give credit. If you know who was the originator of this idea, please let me know and I will gladly give credit! I did change up the DSP to current "Creepy Crawly", and did a little different stamping, so it's not an exact copy!

And in case you are interested, it was a Stamping Halloween party, so of course we all had to dress up in costume! Here I am, I dressed as a pirate aka "Puss in Boots"!

My husband could barely take these pics for me, he was laughing so hard! It was a fun party! I hope Kelly hosts again for me next Halloween!

A "Christmas Punch" Tag!

My hostess Sandy also requested a Christmas project for her camp, so I decided I wanted to have them make a Christmas tag. I looked and looked on all my favorite inspirational spots but couldn't find exactly what I was looking for. I even CASED some tags from other sources, but it wasn't until I designed this one myself that I was excited! Lookie:

GEDC6744

©Stampin'Up!™1990-2009

I started with a 4" X 2/3/8" Chocolate Chip base that I punched the edge with the Scalloped Border punch, then added a 2 3/8" X 1 1/2" strip of Merry Moments DSP layered on a Real Red 2 3/8" x 1 3/4" strip. I stamped the Santa postage stamp from "Christmas Punch" a Level 2 Hostess set in Real Red, punched it out with the 1 1/4" Square punch, then layered it on a Real Red Scalloped Square. I stamped the "Simple Snowflake" single stamp in Real Red on Very Vanilla, then punched it out with the Jumbo Snowflake punch. I attached the Snowflake to the tag with a Real Red Bold Brights brad. The "to: from: " from the"Christmas Punch" set is stamped in Real Red on Very Vanilla, then punched out with the Modern Label punch (LOVE that punch!) I finished off the tag with a Jumbo eyelet set with my Crop-a-dile, then threaded Real Red gingham ribbon through it!

I have loved making tags for years, even before my Stampin' Up! days I would cut up old Christmas cards with pinking shears to make my own tags. It was actually the allure of being able to stamp my own Christmas tags to match my paper that got me into stamping in the first place, so it feels like coming home to design and play around with this tag!

Leave me a comment about this tag and I will put your name in a drawing for a "Christmas Punch" stamp set, okay?

Ta for now!

Carol

An Elegant Feminine Birthday Card with "Friends 24-7"!

My hostess for tomorrow night, Sandy, asked for an "Elegant Feminine Birthday" card for her Stamp Camp, so of course I went straight for "Friends 24-7"! It's elegant femininity deluxe! I also went to my Designer Paper stash to use my "Bella Bleu" DSP! Here's the card, let me know what you think!

GEDC6743

©Stampin'Up!™1990-2009

We will also be using the Eyelet Border punch with the Photo Corner punch in a new way to get a much more "feminine" photo corner!

The birdie is stamped in Sahara Sand on the Very Vanilla cardstock, then I layered Vellum Paper over the birdie which I stamped the "friends" phrase in Not Quite Navy. Now, I don't use vellum on my projects as much as I would like, mainly because I never know how to attach it without the adhesive showing, but on this card I was able to put a little dab of SNAIL in three of the four corners, then covered the corners with the photo corners and the Styled Vanilla ribbon slide with the Kraft taffeta ribbon. For the final corner I used my Paper Piercer and Mat Pack to pierce a "faux stitching" line up each side of the corner. Piercing the vellum through the Very Vanilla backing causes the vellum to stick into the holes just a little bit and "voila!" no adhesive needed in that corner!

New Stamp Camp Projects!

I have a class tonight near Pittsburg, IL, and my hostess doesn't send Christmas cards, so she requested some general-themed projects and a 3-D. I actually enjoyed taking a break from Christmas projects and these came together in a snap!

First, a quick card using our Bermuda Bay Patterns Designer Series Paper and "Celebrate Everything"!

GEDC6739

©Stampin'Up!™1990-2009

Next, a quick card using a BUNCH of punches and Razzleberry Lemonade DSP! It's so easy to make a card when you use the DSP colors as your guide!

GEDC6741

©Stampin'Up!™1990-2009

Even though we are through with Halloween, we aren't through with pumpkins yet, and I really had fun making this one with the Wide Oval punch, then running the ovals through the Big Shot with the Finial Press Embossing Folder! The "vines" are actually the Scribbles & Swirls Sizzlet die!

GEDC6740

©Stampin'Up!™1990-2009

And lastly, the 3-D project is the quick & easy Fancy Favor Box/Bag Die with "Autumn Meadows" DSP!

That's all for now, but I'll be back later this week with more to show you!
