Spring Into Stamping Extravaganza! Hightlights!

We had a great time at the Spring Into Stamping Extravaganza on Valentine's Day! Here are some pictures of the highlights of the day:

Sits3 You registered at the door for door prizes and the grand prize (the basket of goodies you can see under my daughter Kimberly's arm!), stamped your name tag, and received a bag to carry your creations!

Sits 09 Here's a pic of the room as we were getting into full swing! You can see on the wall to the left we showed the "2008 Workshop Wow!" DVD. (Hopefully when we have this event again after the Fall catalog comes out we will have figured out how to get the sound to work too!)

Sits4 A popular table was Linda Reaney's project, "Faux Crocodile"! She also demonstrated how to use the new Circle Scissor Plus!
Here's the project everyone got to make. It's hard to see the faux crocodile on the Chocolate Chip background, but isn't he adorable?

This was my table where everyone got to make a cute little 3x3 card using a flower cut from the Sticky Pages and Dazzling Diamonds glitter!
Remember this card?

All in all it was a GREAT DAY! We hope to have another event just like this one in August after the new catalog comes out in July! We are planning to have TWO event locations in the same weekend, one at the same Mt Vernon location, and a location more southern, hopefully in West Frankfort!

Friends 24-7!

Friends 24 7 All products copyright Stampin' Up! 1990-2009
Isn't this a gorgeous card? It's so beautiful I can't believe I designed and  made it myself! This new set from the Spring/Summer 2009 Catalog, "Friends 24-7" and the "Friendly Words" wheel is just so beautiful and easy to use! I wanted a card for a stamp camp this past weekend, and came up with this! I wheeled the "Friendly Words" on Baja Breeze cardstock, then punched the lower edge with the new "Eyelet Border" punch. I knew as soon as I saw it in the new catalog that I HAD to have some of the "Parisian Breeze" Designer Series Specialty paper. It costs a little more than our standard DSP ($11.95 vs the usual $9.95), but by just using a little strip (4 1/4" X 1 1/2") you can spark up alot of cards with just one 12x12 sheet! I stamped the bird in Chocolate Chip on SU!'s Watercolor Paper, then colored him with Baja Breeze re-inker and a blender pen. I am NOT a skilled watercolorer, but this technique and using the watercolor paper makes me look like I am! After I "watercolored", I stamped the "Sanded" background stamp over the bird with Sahara Sand ink, used the 3/16" Corner Rounder on two corners, and sponged the edges with Chocolate Chip. After I mounted him on the Chocolate Chip & Baja Breeze layers and mounted all on the cardfront, I decided the upper left corner looked a bit blank, so I added a "Mini Library Clip" and loved the look! (to be honest, I've had a couple of pkgs of mini library clips ever since they first came out in a mini catalog quite a while ago, but had just hoarded them and never used them, shame on me, they are SO CUTE!) I will be using these more, you can be sure of that!
